In It’s A Wonderful Life, an angel is sent down from Heaven to help a businessman who is desperately frustrated with how his life has turned out. She shows him exactly what life would have been like for his loved ones if he had never existed, pointing out his many blessings and his positive impacts as well. Directed by Frank Capra and starring Donna Reed, James Stewart and Lionel Barrymore, this is a festive flick that you can watch time and time again.

2. A Christmas Story (1983)

Here’s another iconic Christmas movie that deserves a rewatch! A Christmas Story follows the antics of young boy Ralphie, a child living in the 1940s. Ralphie’s mission is to convince his teacher, his parents and Santa Claus that a shiny new Red Ryder BB gun is the perfect Christmas present. This classic was directed by Bob Clark, and stars the likes of Peter Billingsley, Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin.

3. Love Actually (2003)

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is possibly the most legendary Christmas-themed story of all time. The novel redefined the holiday season through its story of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and the many lessons he learns. The 2017 film was directed by Bharat Nalluri, and stars Dan Stevens, Mark Schrier and Patrick Joseph Byrnes. The modern retelling of a classic festive novel makes for a film that all ages can enjoy.

Inspired by the Peanuts comics that we know and love, A Charlie Brown Christmas is a seasonal must-watch. Directed by Bill Mendelez, the film follows our favourite cartoon character as he tries to find a deeper meaning to the holidays. This film may be over 50 years old, but its themes of searching for meaning through commercialism are still very relevant today.

Need a feel-good movie with romantic overtones to get you in the mood to celebrate? The Holiday is what you need. Starring Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black and Cameron Diaz, this flick follows 2 troubled women with man problems who decide to swap homes in each other’s countries.
