The small, mythical creatures known as dwarves are famous for their lust for gold and for their fearlessness in acquiring as much of it as they can. With this in mind, we think they were the perfect choice for Rabcat Gaming’s new online slot, Mining Fever. The game offers players the chance to join dwarves in doing what they do best and will go live at Mummys Gold on 31 March.

In the meantime, why not discover what slots such as Mega Moolah have to offer? Rather than heading into a dusty, dirty mineshaft, you will be playing with some of the friendliest animals on safari for a progressive jackpot!

A Closer Look

Created by one of Microgaming’s most innovative creative partners, Mining Fever looks like it could be one of the most exciting additions to the video slots category this year. In addition to the 243 Ways to Win that replace traditional paylines, the forthcoming game also boasts a Wild, 3 different Scatters, special features associated with those Scatters, and a Free Spins round.

The 243 Ways to Win mean that you do not need to see like symbols land on specific paylines. Instead, at least 3 like symbols need to land on adjacent reels to form a winning combination.

The default number of slot coins bet per spin is 20. You will be able to set their value between 0.01 and 2.00, which means you can play Mining Fever for between 0.20 and 40.00 per spin. The online slot also has a hit rate of 29.23% and an RTP of 96.13%.

Meeting the Dwarves

If you believe certain animated versions of the Snow White fairy tale, you might think of dwarves as cheerful, comical characters that sing while on their way to and from work. Mining Fever shows that the creatures are brazen and not afraid to use serious tools.

The three dwarves, named Drilar, Bombur, and Thundar, appear with their respective tools as the online slot’s Scatters. The reel symbols also include a gold Wild decorated with a shovel and a pick. The Wild doubles as one of the top-paying icons.

The other symbols include an ornate crown, a jewelled chest, a royal ring engraved with the face of a dwarf, ingots featuring a mark that looks like a hammer, and pieces of rock in which streaks of gold are visible. Lower value A, K, Q, and J symbols also appear.

The Wild Symbol

The Mining Fever Wild can form a winning combination when 5 like symbols land on the reels. Its real power, however, is the ability to replace any of the regular symbols.

The Wild will substitute for regular symbols when it lands in a position in which it can help them form a win.

3 Scatter Features

The Mining Fever Scatters can function in various ways. If 2 like Scatters land, they will trigger their respective feature. The Free Spins round is triggered by landing 3 like Scatters.

Landing 2 of Drilar’s Dwarven Drill Scatters activates a Bonus Spin. During the spin, the dwarf will send his drill to find a gold vein in one of the reels. When it has located the vein, it will fill the reel with Wild symbols, which could create several winning combinations.

Landing 2 of Thundar’s Dwarven Hammer Scatters will award 1 Bonus Spin. The spin will see either reels 1 and 2 or reels 2 and 3 hammered together. Those reels will then be filled with like symbols.

Landing 2 of Bombur’s Dwarven Bomb Scatters on reels 2, 3, or 4 awards 2 Bonus Spins. During the first, the bomb will remain on a reel as a fixed Wild. During the second spin, the bomb will explode, which will leave either 3 or 4 Wilds in random positions on the reels.

Free Spins Round

The Mining Fever Free Spins round triggers when 3 like Scatters land anywhere in view. You will win 8 Free Spins that also let you see the Dwarven Gold Train in action.

The 3-cart train, which acts as 3 Wilds, will move through the lair of a dragon guarding gold. It will move one position to the right and vertically with every spin, starting on the left reel, and it could help land many more winning combinations.
